ROLE DESCRIPTION & EXPECTATIONS

Requirements and expectations for all employees, and a description of your specific role within the organization are outlined below. This may serve as a useful communication tool and to provide a framework for accountability. This will also be a rubric for future performance evaluations.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS
- Ensure customer experience is top priority: engage in prompt, authentic, friendly and courteous interactions with customers
- All grocery employees will have rotating cashier responsibilities and must complete and maintain Alcohol Serving Safety certification
- Consistently adhere to store policies, security measures, and Health Department regulations
- Reinforce systems and communication between co-workers and departments
- Engage in professional communication using verbal, written and body language
- Work with accuracy, with minimal supervision and make appropriate decisions
- Complete projects satisfactorily and efficiently
- Ensure timely and regular attendance
- Assist with cleaning, dishes, trash removal, composting, recycling, and other duties as assigned
- Attend and participate in department and storewide meetings & trainings

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work in a moderately noisy environment with multiple conversations and tasks being carried out at the same time
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach, lift, carry
- Ability to lift 30 – 50 lbs. often, adjusting, pushing, pulling or moving objects in all directions (includes maneuvering carts and wagons)
- Repeating motions that may include entire body
- Ability to withstand drastic temperature changes (cooler, walk-in freezer, hot/cold from walking outdoors, heat from kitchen, etc.)
DEPARTMENT MANAGER
The Department Manager oversees the daily operations of their department, handling security, customer service, employee, and other operational concerns.
OPERATIONS:
- Oversee training of new staff members, developing and optimizing training plans and manuals
- Manage and post monthly schedule (absence requests and shift-exchange management)
- Collaborate with General Manager and Inventory & Ordering Specialist on project forecasts and actual sales
- Implement strategies to increase productivity and foster growth, coordinating with General Manager
- Oversee pricing/ cost/ waste
- Ensure quality control
- Oversee store cleanliness, organization and efficiency in systems
- Oversee product procurement and merchandising across the department
- Collaborate with General Manager, HR and other Department Managers to implement strategies, problem-solve issues as they arise and meet company goals
EMPLOYEE & CUSTOMER RELATIONS
- Uphold Hungry Moose values and culture of company
- Collaborate with HR in hiring new Moose Crew members
- Ensure a positive work environment for employees within the store
- Ensure adherence to Health Department regulations and company/department policies
- Managing labor costs and working with Shift Leads to do the same
- Ensure employees are offering exceptional customer service, coaching as necessary
- Solve customer complaints and issues as they arise, reporting to General Manager when necessary
- Handle personnel issues including progressive discipline and coaching, coordinating with HR when necessary
- Manage and post monthly schedules and adjust time clock as needed
- Manage absence requests and shift-exchanges
- Motivate employees, providing encouragement and feedback
- Complete monthly check-in’s and seasonal reviews: identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, set goals for skill development and coaching plans
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $25-27.50/hour + share in tip pool
