Responsibilities Summary
- Lead day to day deli operations including production, preparation, and service ensuring timely, accurate and friendly counter service
- Ensure cleanliness, efficiency, safety and quality control in all prep and service areas
- Manage inventory, ordering, cost, waste, and pricing to meet financial targets
- Oversee product receiving and vendor communication
- Assign daily tasks and guide the crew performance to meet service levels and quality expectations
- Engage with customers to ensure exceptional service, handle escalations, and gather feedback for continuous improvement
- Identify and coach underperforming team members. Implement performance improvement plans with the help of HR with targeted goals
- Maintain staffing and scheduling needs for the location. Anticipate needs and be proactive according to community, seasonal and holiday calendars. Maintain labor targets in coordination with shift leads and location manager
- Conduct check-ins and assist with onboarding new staff
- Escalate discipline and performance issues to the Location Manager

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift 30 – 50 lbs. often, adjusting, pushing, pulling or moving objects in all directions (includes maneuvering carts and wagons)
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store needs
Duties and Responsibilities
Training Support
- Complete monthly check-ins and seasonal reviews: identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, set goals for skill development and coaching plans
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of crew members and report to Department Manager
- Coach and offer feedback and encouragement in the moment
Ordering
- Manage product procurement, ensuring consistency and managing pricing, cost and waste
- Receive and process orders; check condition of product and invoice accuracy
- Ensure adequate supply of products, keeping out of stocks to a minimum
- Keep vendors/suppliers updated on current backstock
- Troubleshoot vendor problems and present to Location Manager as required
Day to Day Operations
- Ensure department cleanliness and organization
- Ensure opening/mid/closing duties are thoroughly completed each shift
- Manage the flow of daily operations within the department, checking in with all employees to ensure goals are being met
- Ensure customer experience is top priority: engage in prompt, authentic, friendly and courteous interactions with customers
- Assist Location Manager with daily tasks and projects as assigned
- Assign Moose crew daily work load
- Ensure quality control
- Managing labor costs and working with Shift Leads to do the same based on location schedule and needs
- Solve customer complaints and issues as they arise, reporting to Location Manager when necessary
Coaching/Corrective Action
- Motivate employees, providing encouragement, feedback and coaching
- Foster a positive, collaborative and inclusive team culture with a focus on employee engagement and retention.
- Onboard, oversee training of new staff members, and develop deli staff; promote cross training to enhance flexibility and coverage.
- Set clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback and recognize excellent performance through documentation with HR.
